Trump “isn’t man enough” to testify before Jan. 6 panel, scoffs at Nancy Pelosi
Nancy Pelosi appeared to be making an attempt to provoke Donald Trump to appear before the Jan. 6 panel by claiming he was “not man enough” to comply with the subpoena to testify.
A report last week revealed that sources close to the former president say he wants to testify before the panel, but only if they treat him like other witnesses and allow him a public and live televised hearing.
However, the Speaker of the House has her doubts that Trump will actually appear.
“I don’t think he’s man enough to show up,” Pelosi told MSNBC’s Sunday Show host Jonathan Capehart.
“I don’t think his lawyers want him to show up because he has to testify under oath,” she added. “But I don’t think he’s man enough, we’ll see if he’s man enough to show up.”
Pelosi insisted she is keeping “a distance” from the Jan. 6 panel’s “decision-making” but claimed if Trump fails to comply with the subpoena, Americans should take it as a sign he believes he is “above the law.” stand.

All nine members of the Jan. 6 special committee investigating the attack on the Capitol voted affirmatively to subpoena Trump for testimony and turn over relevant documents at the end of their final public meeting on the afternoon of Oct. 13.
Trump’s close advisers then told The Guardian that the former president had expressed he wanted to speak to “get his pound of meat.”
On Friday, the committee’s subpoena was officially issued to Trump.
Pelosi’s comments on Sunday appear to challenge Trump to actually carry out his threats to testify publicly after he was served with a subpoena.
Aides say Trump is considering complying — but only if he gets a public, live-tv televised hearing like other witnesses
It’s unclear if the committee will allow Trump to testify live. So far, they have declined conditional testimony from all witnesses except Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House staffer during the Trump administration.
It’s not clear if Trump will comply with the subpoena if they don’t allow him to testify publicly.
Representative Liz Cheney, one of the panel’s two GOP members, said Sunday that the panel would not allow Trump to turn his testimony into a “circus” and public one-sided debate against President Joe Biden.
Some lawyers are reportedly advising Trump to remain silent, claiming he could potentially incriminate himself.
Some Trump allies have refused to comply with subpoenas from the panel for their testimony in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riots.
Former top Trump aide Steven Bannon was sentenced Friday morning to four months in prison and a $6,500 fine on criminal contempt of Congress for defying the panel’s subpoena.
The judge will defer the sentence if Bannon files an appeal before November 15, which his team is poised to do.
Bannon’s attorney, David Schoen, promised a “bulletproof” appeal.

“Today was my court day,” Bannon said as he left the court. “November 8 will be judgment day on the illegitimate Biden regime and frankly on Nancy Pelosi and the entire committee.”
“Either they’ve already been kicked out like Liz Cheney,” he continued, “or they’re about to be beaten.”
“The Biden administration ends on the evening of November 8,” Bannon said, then predicted that Attorney General Merrick Garland would be indicted by a Republican convention.
“Merrick Garland will be the first attorney general to face impeachment charges. He will be removed from office.’
