A husky who freed himself and two friends from the crate at the shelter, causing $2,000 in damage in the process, has found his final home despite his antics.
Titan, a four-year-old husky, arrived at the Colbert County Animal Shelter in Tuscumbia, Alabama last Wednesday when shelter manager Charles Speegle found the dog staring at him through a window by the door.
The 46-year-old stared at the mutt for several minutes, wondering how he’d managed to get into the lobby.
He then noticed that the room behind him was “torn to pieces.”
Charles says the “rebellious” pup was dropped off just before closing time last Tuesday and locked in a crate.

Charles was amazed to find that Titan had not only unlocked his box from the inside, but also freed two furry friends from their boxes and threw a “party”.

Stunned, Charles shared the video surveillance on social media when a husky-loving family reached out hoping to adopt Titan – and took him home less than 24 hours after he arrived at the shelter.
Charles, from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, said, “I got there about 7:15 am.” I went to unlock the door and he was sitting in front of the door in the lobby looking at me.
“I waited a few minutes wondering how he got out. I couldn’t find out. The doors don’t open easily, he was in a box and the door to the lobby has a lever that you have to push.
“How did this guy do all this?
“Then I saw the whole mess. I thought ‘Oh God’. He had destroyed my lobby, the blinds were ripped down, he had destroyed the computer, paperwork and files, the entire interior was destroyed.

“He also let two of his buddies out and they threw a party in the back too, but it wasn’t too bad there.” I don’t know how he did it.
“Sometimes they open the box but never the lobby door.”
Charles started a fundraiser to cover the cost of replacing the computer equipment that Titan and his friends had destroyed.
An amused Charles says he got a call from the alarm company the night before that movement had been detected at the shelter.
The police even stopped by to have a look but didn’t spot Titan and Charles concluded that it was likely a mouse that caused the trigger, but soon found that wasn’t the case.

The director of the shelter, Charles Speegle, said: “He also let two of his friends out and they also threw a party in the back but it wasn’t too bad there.” I don’t know how he did it.

Charles said: “The funny thing is that around 11pm the alarm company called and said there was an interior alarm. They sent the police but they saw nothing.”
“They called again because the doorbell rang again and I said ‘It’s probably a mouse,’ so I went to bed not knowing they were throwing a party.”
Charles says it took five employees five hours to clean up the mess, but they saw the funny side.
Charles said, “I imagine the owner gave him up because he’s kind of rebellious and wild.” Huskies are very smart and difficult to handle.
“We were very interested in him, but a family who already owned a husky that looked exactly like Titan got in touch.”
“We would have had to barricade him that night if he hadn’t been adopted.”
The Colbert County Sheriff’s Office has been contacted for comment.
