Moto X40 could debut by the end of 2022 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen

When Motorola debuted the Moto Edge 30 series in India earlier this year, it managed to generate a considerable bit of attention. Notably, the business garnered attention with the release of the Moto Edge 30 Ultra, which was marketed as the first smartphone with a 200MP rear-facing camera. However, it appears that the range will receive an upgrade in the coming months, as reports from China indicate that Motorola will unveil a Moto X40 series as a successor to its premium phone portfolio.

Moto X40 (Moto Edge 40 Pro) specs

According to a claim by a prominent China-based tipster, Digital Chat Station, on Weibo, Motorola will launch the Moto X40 in China in the coming months, just after Qualcomm debuts its next-generation flagship chip. Qualcomm is scheduled to debut the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC in November of this year, when the event is expected to occur.

This might make the Moto X40 one of the first smartphones in the world to feature the new Qualcomm flagship processor. However, it is by no means the only one – handsets such as the iQOO 11, OnePlus 11 Pro, and even Samsung’s future Galaxy S23 series are scheduled to arrive on this chip within the first quarter of 2023. The Moto X40 is reportedly rumoured to include a high refresh rate, full HD+ display, a 50MP primary camera, and 68W rapid charging, according to the report. This could be the base version of the phone, with other variants, such as a “Ultra” version, coming at a later date. The phone may be launched globally as the Moto Edge 40 Pro, similar to how the X30 series was introduced.

As the launch of Qualcomm’s new chip approaches, more information should emerge in the coming weeks.
