Kanye West has accused Quentin Tarantino of stealing his idea for Django Unchained
Kanye West takes up the issue of whether there are limits to free speech, which has come up in the wake of his anti-Semitic remarks in recent weeks.
While appearing on Piers Morgan Uncensored, West insisted “there are no limits to freedom of expression” after the moderator introduced the question by noting that there is currently a “war” over the First Amendment guarantee.
In his case, West accused Quentin Tarantino of stealing an idea he pitched to acclaimed writer/director and Jamie Foxx for his music video Gold Digger and using it as the storyline for his 2012 film Django Unchained .

West’s alleged pitch for Tarantino and Foxx should have happened before June 2005, when the rapper released the Gold Digger video in which Foxx, West, and a handful of pin-up models posed for fictional magazine covers.
Django Unchained began filming in November 2011 and follows a freed slave Django Freeman (Jamie Foxx) who works with a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington) from a plantation.

“Tarantino can write a film about slavery that’s actually him and Jamie [Foxx] They got the idea from me because I pitched the idea for Django to Jamie Foxx and Quentin Tarantino as a video for Gold Digger and Tarantino made a movie out of it,” he claimed.
After declaring that there was a “war on free speech” which he blamed on liberals, presenter Piers Morgan asked West if he thought there were limits to free speech during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored

While West didn’t elaborate on his claims or why he waited more than 10 years to suggest his idea was stolen, he made a comparison to the film’s slave master (Leonardo DiCaprio) when he discussed how free speech fits in context exists. to use the N-word in the film and not be seen as a racist.
“In this film, he creates a context where Leonardo DiCaprio is allowed to use n***** multiple times in that context,” the rapper explained to Blame Game. “So Hollywood’s job is to make things happen. And they allow what content is accepted and what is not.”
West elaborated on the idea of free speech: “Everyone has thoughts and ideas and then people try to manipulate your thoughts and ideas. In order for humanity to advance, we must be able to think freely and then be able to actualize.’
The interview comes in the light of West being accused of making anti-Semitic remarks in recent weeks, which he has repeatedly denied are racist.

More tan 10 year gap: While West claimed he pitched his idea for Gold Digger to Tarantino and Foxx, and that it was used in Django Unchained, he did’t expand on why he waited more than 10 years to make the accusation public
Earlier this month, West tweeted that he would go ‘death [sic] con 3’ on the Jewish people. He also posted a screenshot of a text exchange with Sean “Diddy” Combs suggesting Combs was controlled by Jews. He was promptly restricted by Instagram and Twitter, but has since regained access to his Twitter account.
West also criticized what he called the “Jewish underground media mafia” during an interview with Chris Cuomo on NewsNation earlier this month.
The hip-hop star would also face major backlash after wearing a ‘White Lives Matter’ t-shirt at his runway show during Paris Fashion Week in Paris, France.
In the end, Gold Digger’s music video had nothing to do with slavery, but the song set a record for most digital downloads in one week, selling over 80,000 copies in 2005.
Django Unchained would become Tarantino’s top-grossing film, grossing $425.4 million worldwide at the box office on a budget of $100 million.
So far, Tarantino and Foxx have not come forward to publicly respond to West’s allegations.
