Harry Potter star Robbie Coltrane “died of multiple organ failure” and had five other illnesses
Popular actor Robbie Coltrane’s cause of death is listed on his death certificate as multiple organ failure, according to a new report.
The Harry Potter star died on October 14 at the age of 72. At the time of his death, he was reportedly suffering from sepsis, a lower respiratory tract infection, type 2 diabetes, heart block and obesity.
These factors – combined with the organ failure – cumulatively led to his premature death.
According to the Daily Star, Coltrane’s ex-wife Rhona Gemmell registered his death in Glasgow.
It is understood that he had been unwell for some time, which led to his death.

He was rumored to be struggling with serious health problems earlier this year after being forced to withdraw from London Comic Con in June due to medical reasons.
The Scottish star, whose real name is Anthony Robert McMillan, was best known for playing beloved Hogwarts gamekeeper Hagrid and criminal psychologist Dr. To play Eddie “Fitz” Fitzgerald.
For his role as Dr. Fitz, he has won BAFTA Best Actor for three consecutive years and two BAFTA Scotland Awards. He even voiced the BBC adaptation of King Charles’ children’s book The Old Man Of Lochnagar.
Coltrane is survived by wife Gemmell, whom he married in 1999, sister Annie Rae and children Spencer born 1992 and Alice born 1998.
He was one of the most popular comedians in the UK before turning to acting where he landed his first major role as Fitz in the ITV drama series Cracker.

During his illustrious career he also starred alongside comedy and acting legends such as Julie Walters, Ben Elton, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Emma Thompson and Siobhan Redmond.
Coltrane’s agent Belinda Wright described him as a “unique talent” and said the star passed away on Friday. She added: “Please respect the privacy of Robbie’s family at this troubling time.”
In a statement, she said: “My client and friend Robbie Coltrane OBE passed away on Friday 14th October. Robbie was a unique talent.
“Personally, I will remember him as a loyal customer. Not only was he a wonderful actor, he was forensically intelligent, brilliantly funny, and after 40 years of being proud to be called his agent, I will miss him.
In his later years, he appeared less frequently in film and television, but returned to be interviewed for HBO’s Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts – where he spoke of how his legacy as Hagrid lives on long after him would.

Speaking of the special, he said: “The legacy of the films is that my children’s generation will show it to their children so that you can watch it 50 years from now with ease. “I won’t be here, unfortunately… but Hagrid will be.”

Following the shock news of his death, former co-stars and colleagues began paying tribute to the “one of a kind” man.
Daniel Radcliffe remembered his Harry Potter co-star as “one of the funniest people” and an “incredible actor”.
The actor, who played the lead in the fantasy series, shared fond memories of the set in a statement, saying: “Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met and always made us laugh on set as kids brought.
“I have particularly fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on Prisoner of Azkaban, when we all hid in Hagrid’s cabin for hours from the torrential rain, and he told stories and cracked jokes to keep morale up.
“I am incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet and work with him and very sad that he has passed away. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.”

Emma Watson, who starred as Hermione in the franchise, released a heartbreaking statement on Instagram, which read: “Robbie was like the funniest uncle I’ve ever had, but most of all he was deeply caring and compassionate for me as a child and an adult. His talent was so immense it made sense that he was playing a giant – he could fill ANY room with his brilliance.
“You know how much I adore and admire you. I will really miss your sweetness, your nicknames, your warmth, your laughter and your hugs.
“You made us a family. Know that you were that for us. There was no better Hagrid. You made it a pleasure to be Hermione.’
Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, said on Instagram: “One of my fondest memories from filming Harry Potter was shooting the first movie at night in the Forbidden Forest. i was 12
“Robbie cared and cared for everyone around him. Effortless. And made her laugh. Effortless. He was a big friendly giant on screen, but even more so in real life. Love you mate – thanks for everything.”
Warwick Davis, who starred alongside Robbie Coltrane as Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter films, has paid tribute to the “always cheerful” actor who has died aged 72.
He wrote: “I was saddened to learn that fellow Harry Potter cast member Robbie Coltrane passed away today.
“He was always cheerful and brought warmth, light and laughter to every set he walked on. RIP Robbie, Beloved Giant of Comedy.’
