Al Michaels hit out at comments implying that Taylor Swift’s music is only popular with teenage girls

Al Michaels’ comments suggesting Taylor Swift’s music on NFL’s Thursday Night Football is only popular with teenage girls is slammed on social media
Al Michaels has come under the crosshairs of Taylor Swift fans after his comments on NFL’s Thursday Night Football on social media.
Michaels, who appeared in Amazon coverage, apparently hinted that Swift was only popular with teenage girls following an announcement regarding the singer’s new album.
“You have four sons, if you had a daughter she would be over the moon,” Michael told Kirk Herbstreit in the dressing room.
“I have a granddaughter and she is absolutely delighted right now…no one is more popular in the teenage girl community than Taylor Swift.”
Michael’s comments came after a commercial aired for Swift’s new album, Midnights, which was released at midnight.

Fans and members of the media both took to Twitter to contradict Michael’s apparent innuendo
The 32-year-old singer has won 11 Grammys over the course of her musical career. Most of Swift’s music revolves around the pain of relationships, growing up and experiencing life.
Fans weren’t the only ones outraged by Michael’s comments, as Pro Football Talk’s Michael Smith also weighed in.
“The NFL wants to do business with Taylor Swift in part because it appeals to a demographic that the NFL would like to reach out more to, but Al Michaels’ assumption that Kirk Herbstreit’s kids don’t like Taylor Swift because he has sons was kind of stupid.” , Smith tweeted.
The reaction from fans seemed very similar, with one fan tweeting, “I overheard Al Michaels implying guys can’t look forward to the new Taylor Swift and shook my head the whole time to show I did.” I don’t agree with that .’
Another tweet read, “All credit to Al Michaels, but guys can be Taylor Swift fans too.”
Another added: “I’m secure enough in my manhood to admit I’m PUMPED for Taylor Swift’s new album. Gonna blast Midnights in repeat.’
Michaels also complimented Smith during his comments, calling her an “amazing performer.”
